Fancy laundry detergent, Barbie cupcakes, and fresh tortillas 💕
These are the things that brought me joy this week
Happy Wednesday!
What a week it’s been! As much as I love the constant travel, there’s something so wonderful about getting to be home for a full week. I love falling into a routine and having the chance to work as hard or as little as I want or need to in the moment. Over the last week I’ve written 9 stories, pitched a ton, and even scored a new outlet to write for (I’ll share more about that soon!), but I’ve also relaxed, taken naps, started rewatching Veronica Mars, and spontaneously went to the Drake & Lil Wayne concert.
Overall it’s been a solid week, and I’ve opened at least three dozen boxes of products that I’m excited to test out to see what will make it to future editions of Amber Loved!
Some old, some new, and some limited-edition — here’s what I loved the most this week:
Sprinkles Cupcakes x Barbie
Listen, I know it’s Barbie’s 65th anniversary and I know we’re still reeling from Ryan Gosling’s incredible “I’m Just Ken” performance and Barbie is everywhere right now (rightfully so!!), but there was something about this Sprinkles x Barbie collab showing up at my door right after my big ‘I’m not a Polly Pocket, I’m a fucking Barbie’ moment during the retreat that just felt like a sign — I’m right where I belong and I am a goddamn Barbie!
Plus, have you ever had a Sprinkles cupcake? They are freaking delicious! I don’t think this box is available anymore, but there is a super cute Easter version! I’m never mad when these cupcakes appear!
Rise & Puff Tortillas
There’s nothing quite as satisfying as a fresh tortilla. I’m pretty much an equal opportunist when it comes to flour vs corn tortillas, because I know they have different purposes. Butttt at home I’m more likely to opt for a flour tortilla.
And once I discovered Rise & Puff tortillas I decided they are the only tortillas I’ll ever use again at home. These refrigerated tortillas are par-cooked and you have to finish cooking them before you use them. It only takes a few minutes — I like to keep mine frozen so they last longer — and then you have fresh, slightly chewy, delicious tortillas. Made with 4 simple ingredients (flour, salt, water, and avocado oil) they are so clean. There’s also an organic version, a gluten free version, and an everything seasoning crusted one!
I use them for breakfast tacos, taco nights, quick wraps at lunch, easy quesadillas (they also have pre-made quesadillas in like a dozen varieties that are delightful!) — I think I go through a pack a week easily. They ship nationwide and you can find them at Sprouts! Fingers crossed they make their way into more stores soon! Check them out here.
The Laundress - No. 723 Fragrance detergent
I love doing laundry, like really love doing it. Maybe not so much when I would have to go to a laundromat or trek down a hall to fill a card to be able to use the building’s machine. But now that I have my own fancy washer and dryer — game on! It’s my favorite chore, but likely not for the reason you think.
I’ve worked super hard to create an ambiance in my apartment and part of that vibe is the scent of my home. Nearly every person who has ever stepped foot into my apartment immediately says, “wow, it smells so good in here!” And that’s partly because of my constant use of candles and diffusers, but it’s also thanks to my choice of laundry detergent!
One of my absolute must haves is the perfumed detergent (this one is literally crafted by world-class perfumers) from The Laundress. I only use it when I’m washing my bedding, but the No. 723 Detergent is rose-inspired with notes of geranium, damask rose, jasmine, lily of the valley, violet, patchouli, guaiacwood, and of course — amber.
Not only does it keep my sheets smelling fresh and magical until my next wash, but it radiates through my house for a few days after I’ve used it and it’s a little luxury that I can’t imagine missing out on.
My custom Amber Love necklace from Chez LaRoche
If you’ve seen me out and about in the last maybe six months or so, then you’ve likely seen me rocking this beauty! I commissioned it from a super talented friend of mine who uses glass & ceramic beads and fresh water pearls and no two necklaces are the same.
When I ordered mine I started to suggest a color-theme and she quickly said, “Oh, I know your style. Don’t you worry!” Needless to say, Emily was totally on point and it’s one of my most prized accessories — in fact, I had it blessed by one of the shamans during my recent ayahuasca retreat!
I believe Chez LaRoche got its start during the pandemic as a little side hustle, and she’s still making fun creations today. Plus, she’s started hosting Disco Bead Bar Pop-Ups where you can make your own necklaces and she’s available for events, which I think is just so fun! Love seeing friends do cool things! Head to her Etsy shop to get yours!
Cali Sober THC beverages
So you might have seen my insane bar cart and shelves full of every kind of spirit you can imagine (and wine fridge and massive wine rack), but did you know that I don’t drink alcohol when I’m home by myself? Yup, I’m a social drinker, so if there’s not someone else here with me or I’m not out with friends, I’m not drinking. Actually, even on press trips where I’m completely solo, I mightttt have one drink, but not usually.
With that being said, I’m all about THC-infused beverages at home. And I’ve tested and tasted a ton of them. This week I tried Cali Sober for the first time and loved it! I also discovered (but don’t quite understand) that it’s true THC, but somehow also still considered totally legal all over the country, meaning it’s easy to get wherever you are!
With 5mg of THC, this was the perfect way to wind down and it made me feel so chill and giggly and it tasted absolutely delicious! So far I’ve tried the Berry Ginger Fizz, but still have the Paloma and the Ranch Water flavors to try. They ship nationwide and can be found in certain stores all over the country! Check them out!
Are there specific kinds of recommendations you’re looking for? Or maybe you know of something that I’d love! Feel free to hit ‘reply’ and let me know! 💖
🥰😍😍
This is the 2nd specialty detergent company I've seen partner with a fragrance company - so genius! I need my client Carbona to do this!!...And check out that Laundress collab. I love the tip about relishing it for just sheets...Maybe towels too!
